Behind Crystal Lotus Massage lies a story of resilience, passion, and determination.
In January 2023, Bianca, the clinic’s founder, received a diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia. Her life changed forever. She had to find a career path compatible with her limited energy, while still being able to support herself, finance her treatments, and take care of her home and her autistic mother. Massage therapy wasn’t a coincidence. It was a calling.
Before that, Bianca had worked for over 12 years in gerontology, guided by a deep vocation to help others. The gift of therapeutic touch was passed down in her family, particularly through her mother, and had always been a part of her life.
The government offered six months of financial assistance. Six months to get back on her feet. Six months to reinvent herself. It was then that massage therapy, long a dream, returned as a clear path and a source of hope.
Thanks to the financial support of her loved ones, Bianca began her studies… the same week as the start of her chemotherapy.
On her very first day of school, she stood before her class, wearing a mask, and simply said:
“I’m sick, but I dream of becoming a massage therapist. I dream of saving my home, taking care of my mother, and building my future. I dream of a normal life, a family, and one day opening one of the best clinics on the South Shore, surrounded by the best therapists.” Few believed it at first.
But her smile, her perseverance, and her courage—even in the face of hair loss—deeply touched the staff and students. Half of the cohort didn’t complete the training. Bianca persevered.
